Myo-Osteo Therapy

Myo-Osteo TherapyMyo-Osteo Therapy is based on the premise that displaced vertebrae are being held out of place by soft tissue such as muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia. The bones do not move out of position on their own, but are either pulled out of place by muscles, gravity or some other traumatic force (slip and fall, auto accident, etc.). If left uncorrected, over time the muscles will create a memory of this displaced position so that when the vertebrae is adjusted, the soft tissue will pull it back out of place much like a rubber band.

With Myo-Osteo Therapy, gentle, sustained pressure is placed over the vertebrae in specific locations and directions for 30-60 seconds and this creates a proprioceptive neuro-muscular release which results in the soft tissue elongating and becoming much less likely to move the bone back out of its proper position. The procedure is not painful and only pressure is used to allow the soft tissue to release its force exerted on the vertebrae to it can realign itself.

This procedure works extremely well with acupuncture because the needles are also able to release the muscle spasm which is holding the vertebrae out of position while also increasing muscle tension to allow flaccid muscle to hold the correction.
